Kim Langevin is from Winston-Salem, NC, so 'Salem Reflections' reflects Old Salem, which is 5-10 minutes from where she lives. I personally think 'Salem Reflections' is her best work ever (at least, my personal favorite). She shows previous as well as new pieces at Germanton Art Gallery, in Germanton, NC. Additionally, she has prints and original art available for direct sale.
Anyone interested in her art or in reaching Kim can contact me at intel352 =AT= gmail =DOT= com, and I will let her know of your intent for purchase or communication.Jon Langevin, son of Kim Langevin. Play on Words It's possible that some sites state 'free downloads' when there is actually a charge is because they are making a play on words. When they say 'free downloads' what they really mean is 'downloading is free.'
They just don't mention that whatever you are downloading, you have to pay for. Downloading most things, like music, games and movies, free is illegal. There are legal penalties if you are discovered with those items and did not pay for them, just like there are if you leave a store without paying for a CD, DVD or any other item. In order to avoid any possible legal consequences, find a site to download what you want by paying for it. I have PA 4.0 and it worked on XP Pro. Now that I have purchased a Vista PC, I cannot get it to install. I have tried many ways including running the setup as administrator and the different compatibility modes in Vista.
At one point, I got it to start the install but then it said that my hardware was not compatible which is not true. I went to: and it shows only Print Artist Gold 21 as well as the newest 22 as being compatible. I am not happy that Microsoft has stopped support for this and many other old software programs. I actually have PA 4.0 running on Vista (and now Windows 7) but I did not actually install it the normal way. And there are issues with a few aspects, probably since Vista (or maybe even XP). You will need the Seirra/PrintArtist folders from an old install to make this work. I still had it from earlier installs on XP and Win 98.
It will run without an actual install by just clicking on the printartist exe file in the main folder. You can also move a shortcut to the file to your start menu. It works just as it usually did, but ocassionally crashes, so save often if you get it working. You can also not change the print options from within the program, which is the issue I mentioned. If you want to change options, do it first from the regular printer properties page and then open the program. Find an older computer, install the program and any graphics you use with it, and then move all the folders to the program folder in the Vista or Windows 7 partition.
This will NOT work on a 64 bit operating system, however. The program refuses to run, even in compatibility mode. (By the way, I also set the Printartist exe file to compatibility mode for Win 95. Might also work with Win 98 compatibility mode.).
The manufacturer says that Print Artist 22 is compatible with Vista. From reading online posts there doesn't seem to be any problems with installing Print Artist 22 on Vista. After reading the posts, I discovered some confusion. There is also a product named Print Shop 22 which is made by Broderbund and it appears from the posts that there are problems with this product when installing it on Vista. Print Artist 22 is made by Nova Development which is a completely different company and product. One of these companies needs to rename their product to avoid confusion with the other brand.
My old copy of Print Artist 4.0 has a copyright of 1996 and is not compatible with Vista. I have Print Artist 8.0 with a copyright of 1999, which is also NOT compatible with Vista.unless you already have a file that was created with Print Artist. For instance, if you open a file that was created from another computer running Windows 98, you are able to open that file when 8.0 is installed on Vista. You will then have to delete all the graphics and such from that file to create a new one. It ends up being a lot of hassle, but it is the only way I have found possible to get 8.0 to even open on Vista. I'm assuming by 'print artists' you mean printmakers; a term describing artists who create original prints, as opposed to artists who have reproduction prints created from their originals. Original prints usually fall into 3 broad categories: Etching and engraving (intaglio), Lithography and Screenprinting (silk screen printing or serigraphy) Many printmakers are also painters or sculptors and yet not all painters or sculptors are printmakers even though they may have prints available of their work.
